Might Be More DWI’s If Clark County, Arkansas, Becomes a Wet County
It’s been more than 60 years since Clark County, Arkansas, banned alcohol sales throughout the county. A few weeks ago the dry county took up the issue again at a town hall meeting at Henderson State University and Ouachita Baptist University. As an aside if you are in need of a wonderful Dallas injury lawsuit lawyer or injury attorney in the general Dallas area who can also do personal injury this one may be for you:
Wilson Trosclair & Lovins, PLLC
302 North Market Street #501, Dallas, TX 75202
(214) 484-1930
It seemed like a lot of the citizens of the county want to keep it dry, maybe to prevent more accidents from happening..
Bill Thomas was quoted as saying, “Especially with the DWI’s and what have you on the roads and the highways and that’s my big concern.” Much like Little Rock has a lot of criminal defense personal injury cases due to the DWI and DUI situations over there, for example. Al ot of accident occur in Dallas for the same reasons.
Thomas added, “I think there’s a lot more that Arkadelphia and Clark County needs to do, a lot more than bringing liquor.”
Many at the meeting agreed. Sheri Parker was quoted as saying, “Think about the beauty of your town, think about safety…..”
Another community leader contended that Clark County would do better with growth if it’s kept dry. Frank Teed said, “Bringing the alcohol in, in a sense serves as a tax on people…..”
The people that Teed represents claim that dry counties on average have grown faster than wet counties in Arkansas. You could need compensation from an Arlington or Dallas injury clinic for you personal injury lawsuit as an example, a clinic bill can be steep in Texas.
Those on the other side of the issue decided to sit the meeting out. They were quoted as saying it was better they didn’t show up.
Tim Kauffman, who leads the “Vote For Growth” group for a wet county said they feel the change is one piece to their platform.
Kauffman was quoted as saying, “I just think it would be more divisive. We’ve been working on this for two years….” It would be interesting to see how the change to a wet county would affect accidents and DUI’s in Clark County. It does seem like they’d be bound to increase. Well I have to go back to Dallas….
